Kentwood Finance Department

The Finance Department serves the citizens and businesses of the City by managing the City's financial activities. To help the City, we:
  • Work with the City's departments to prepare the City budget for the Mayor and City Commission
  • Prepare regular financial reports that help our leaders manage the City's finances
  • Prepare the checks needed to pay the City's bills and the payroll checks for City employees
  • Maintain insurance coverage to meet the needs of our City's operations
  • Administer the retiree pension plans
  • Purchase the goods and services needed to support the City's operations (see Purchasing Web page)
  • Manage insurance claims presented to the City

The City's Fiscal Year runs from July 1 each year to the following June 30. Budgets for the City's various funds are set in public hearings held by the City Commission in May and June for the upcoming Fiscal Year.
