    The City of Kentwood Police Department is seeking applicants for a full-time Police Officer position.  We are looking for ambitious men and women with high moral integrity and a strong work ethic.  Qualified applicants will be at least 18 years of age and meet all of the following requirements:
    1. Must take the Empco test prior to August 1st.                                         
    2. Successful completion of two years of college level coursework;                 
    3. MCOLES certifiable by December 1, 2017;
    4. Must be a United States citizen at the time of testing for the position;        
    5. Must not have any felony convictions; and                                          
    6. Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license prior to hire date.        

    To apply, applicants must pass the written Empco (Empco.net) test by August 1, 2017 and select the City of Kentwood Police Department as an organization for which he or she wishes to apply.  Go to www.empco.net to find a list of test dates and times.  No resumes or applications are needed at this time as we will request them at a later date.

  • Activity Leader - ARCH After School Program

    The City of Kentwood is currently seeking part-time Activity Leaders for the Kentwood public school's after school program (ARCH).  For information on the ARCH after school program, please click: http://www.kentwoodps.org/ourschools/crossroadsalternativeeducation/programsandactivities/archprogram/  

    Activity Leaders are responsible for the following:

    • Assisting with daily program activity planning and implementation;
    • Enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;
    • Assisting teachers in daily classroom activities;
    • Ensuring participant safety and welfare during all activities;
    • Ensuring inclusion of all program participants; 
    • Maintaining a safe and clean atmosphere and environment; and
    • Communicating with parents of participants as needed in a professional and effective manner
    The starting pay rate is $11.00 per hour.  Activity Leaders work approximately 16 hours per week.

    Qualified applicants will have the following:
    • High school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with children in an education, recreation, or similar program or have an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  
    • Valid driver's license
    • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications within three months of date of employment.
