APPROVED MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE KENTWOOD CITY COMMISSION
HELD JANUARY 3, 2017
Mayor Stephen Kepley called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
Commissioner Artz led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Reverend Carolyn Cammenga, retired CRC Pastor gave the invocation.
Roll Call: Present: Commissioners: Betsy Artz, Michael W. Brown, Robert Coughlin, Erwin Haas, Jerry DeMaagd, Steve Redmond and Mayor Stephen Kepley.
Staff Present: City Engineer Tim Bradshaw, Finance Director Tom Chase, Public Works Director John Gorney, City Clerk Dan Kasunic, Fire Chief Brent Looman, Deputy Finance Director Lorna Nenciarini, Deputy Administrator Mark Rambo, Fire Department Administrative Assistant Nancy Shane, City Attorney Jeffrey Sluggett, and Deputy Police Chief Don Tuuri.
Five (5) citizens and members of the news media attended the meeting.
Motion by Artz, seconded by Coughlin, to approve the agenda.
ACKNOWLEDGE VISITORS AND NON-AGENDA ITEMS:
Two South Christian High School students introduced themselves.
(All items under this section are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion with no discussion. If discussion is desired by a Commission member, that member may request removal of an item from the Consent Agenda.)
Motion by Artz, seconded by Haas, to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:
- Receive and file minutes of the Committee of the Whole Meeting held on December 20, 2016.
- Receive and file minutes of the Parks & Recreation Commission meeting held on December 19, 2016.
- Receive and file September 2016 General Revenue and Expenditure Report.
- Payables for the City totaling $1,814,755.82
Roll Call Vote: Yeas: All. Nays: None. Absent: None.
Motion by Coughlin, seconded by Haas, to approve the minutes
of the December 20, 2016 City Commission Meeting.
AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF NETWORK SWITCH FOR THE KENTWOOD ACTIVITIES CENTER.
Deputy Finance Director Nenciarini reviewed the memorandum dated December 27, 2016 regarding the purchase of switch.
Motion by Artz, seconded by Haas, to authorize the purchase of one network switch to be installed at the Recreation Building, from Precision Data Products with funds from the FY 2016-17 Property and Building Fund budget.
COMMENTS OF COMMISSIONERS AND MAYOR:
Commissioner Coughlin-Informed the Commission he will be absent at the January 17th
City Commission meeting.
