Present: Commissioners: Mayor Pro-Tem Michael Brown, Betsy Artz, Robert Coughlin, Jerry DeMaagd, Erwin Haas, Steve Redmond (5:45) and Mayor Stephen Kepley. Also present: Finance Director Tom Chase, Public Works Director John Gorney, Police Chief Tom Hillen, City Clerk Dan Kasunic, Fire Chief Brent Looman, Assistant Finance Director Lorna Nenciarini, Deputy Administrator Mark Rambo, Community Development Director Terry Schweitzer, Fire Department Administrative Assistant Nancy Shane, and Assistant City Engineer Dan Vander Heide.
 
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT:
 
  1. ENGINEERING SERVICES AMENDMENT FOR WATERMAIN IN ANDREW AND OTHER RELATED STREETS.
Assistant City Engineer VanderHeide reviewed the memorandum dated August 16, 2016 regarding the needed engineering services contract amendment for watermain in Andrew Street.
 
Motion by Artz, seconded by Haas, to recommend to the City Commission to authorize the Mayor to amend a contract for survey, engineering, inspection and testing services with Wightman & Associates, Inc. to an amount not to exceed $127,340.00 (addition of $52,340.00, including a 10% contingency) for replacement of watermains along Andrew Street from Kalamazoo Avenue to the end and Mapleview Street from Andrew Street to the end, with funds from the FY 2016-17 Water Fund budget.

POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS:
 
            POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Police Chief Hillen reviewed the Police Department Monthly Statistical Report for July 2016. Chief Hillen spoke of the hiring of additional officers and the reassignment of two officer as School Resource Officers. He noted the “Be Sober or get Pulled Over” campaign that will begin shortly.
 
FIRE DEPARTMENT.
Fire Chief Looman reviewed the Fire Department Monthly Fire Report for July 2016.
 
There was a brief discussion regarding staffing for EMS units.
Motion by Redmond, seconded by Haas to receive and file the Police and Fire Department Monthly Activity Reports for July 2016.
 
                                                                        Motion Carried.
 
The Committee discussed the Wing Avenue Corridor Study notice and requirements for water, and sanitary. Commissioner Redmond requested a discussion regarding assessments of sidewalks be placed on a future agenda.
